STANDING Group A 2022 AFF U-23 Cup until the first matchday is known. Cambodia was in first place after slaughtering Brunei Darussalam, while Timor Leste was surprisingly able to get one point after equaling the Philippines.
Group A’s first matchday was full of surprises. How could it not be, on the first day of the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup, a big score was presented when the host Cambodia played Brunei Darussalam at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Penh, Monday 14 February 2022.
Playing in front of its own public, Cambodia is dominating. Hirose Ryu’s team even won with a big score of 6-0.
Cambodia’s winning goals were scored by Sieng (18′), Nhean (20′), Sa (32′), Taing (72′), Sor (86′) and Narong (88′). The big win automatically put Cambodia in first position in Group A standings.
Moreover, the other match between Timor Leste and the Philippines ended in a 2-2 draw. This result is very surprising because Timor Leste was originally predicted to be soft food for the Philippines.
However, the match went beyond expectations. Timor Leste even went ahead thanks to a De Lima (5′) goal before Quano (45′) equalized for the Philippines.
