Standing 5 Hours, Cold, Asked for WA Number

Automotive exhibitions such as GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) do not only talk about car products on display. But also many other interesting sides to be reviewed. Last time we discussed the profession of cleaning exhibition cars, now we will discuss the ups and downs of ushers at GIIAS 2021.

For those who don’t know, ushers are women who stand next to the products of cars, motorcycles, buses, and trucks that are on display at the exhibition. The ushers usually appear in special clothes according to the participants’ booth theme.

As said by a Nissan usher booth named Regina, the usher profession is a challenging job because she has to stand for about 5 hours in an air-conditioned room.

“Every job has its ups and downs. If it’s sad, it’s cold (because of the AC) anyway,” Regina opened to detikOto at the GIIAS 2021 arena, ICE, BSD City, Tangerang, Friday (11/19/2021).

Another grief is none other than the number of men who ask for contact numbers or ask to get acquainted. “Usher at exhibitions like this must have a lot of people asking for acquaintances. Now wearing masks (so not many come close), in the past (before the pandemic) many asked for acquaintances, and some were annoying,” continued the woman who was continue his studies in the hospitality sector.

Regina herself admits that she has been in the usher profession since 2018. He made this profession as a side. Regina likes this profession because she really likes to pose in front of the camera lens. In addition, Regina can also socialize with visitors.

“I like it a lot too. Like I personally like taking photos, I like being stylish. If it’s like this, there are many photographers, many who ask for photos, I’m happy too. Continuing to talk to meet a lot of people, it’s actually training in communication, actually,” continued the woman who lives in West Jakarta.

At GIIAS 2021, Regina said that she had to stand all day for a total of 5 hours, with details of 4 hours of standing and 1 hour of resting. “The rule after there is a pandemic (standing) is about 5 hours. Rest here (Nissan booth) 30 minutes. (But we don’t stand all the time) we have rolling sitting. So 30 minutes, sitting 30 minutes. So total yourself Yes, about 4 hours a day, 1 hour for rest,” Regina continued.

Speaking of salary, Regina didn’t want to go into details. But he has his range. According to Regina, each brand has a different budget in paying its usher workers.

“As for the others, I don’t know, but so far (so far) I know maybe around IDR 600 thousand, until there are two point millions of rupiah. ,” he said again.

More or less the same experience expressed by Narita Ayu. The 25-year-old Usher from Jakarta also often feels cold when he has to work in a cold room and has to stand for hours.

“If we are asked about his grief, yes, it must be very cold. But we must remain professional. Another sorrow, if someone goes back and forth, they ask for a phone number. Even though we don’t want and can’t be with the brand or agency to give personal data,” said Narita.

Narita also said that he has about 5 hours of work, with 4 hours of standing and 1 hour of rest. “We have rolling, 45 minutes we sit, 45 minutes we stand. We have two shifts, per shift there are two ushers. So every 45 minutes, we take turns sitting, so we’re not too tired,” he continued.

“For salary, as far as I know, the range is from 800 thousand to 1 million rupiah. It is paid per day. I don’t know if there are other brands that are bigger or not,” he said.
