Standard, joined at the end of the match, did no better than a draw against Cercle Bruges

A Standard lacking ideas, which had nevertheless managed to open the score, finally conceded the tie at the end of the match during its trip to Cercle Bruges (1-1).

The first half was poor in chances, despite a dangerous situation brought on by Standard in the first minutes. Isolated in the surface, Marlon Fossey fires a volley but the shot is repelled by a Warleson attentive.

But the highlight of this first act takes place in the 36th minute. Lucas Noubi commits a mistake on Kevin Denkey. Jonathan Lardot then whistles a penalty but the VAR cancels it because the offense was committed outside the area.

Standard’s intentions are the same in the second half: swinging long balls to try to find a Wilfried Kanga far too lonely. While for its part, Cercle is struggling to bring danger into the Rouches area despite three good consecutive interventions fromArnaud Bodart.

The Liégeois then experienced a misadventure by losing their captain Zinho Vanheusdenleft with an injury a quarter of an hour from the end.

In the 79th minute, Isaac Price addresses an interesting corner for Kanga, who deflects into the first zone. Fossey was then attentive to emerge and open the scoring with a header which crashed onto the bar before crossing the line.

If the residents of Sclessin think they will leave the Venice of the North with the three points, they see the Club’s rivals come back in the very last minutes… also from a corner since a Thibo Somers alone in the area leaves Bodart no chance.

The men ofIvan Leko are provisionally in tenth place and will host Antwerp on Wednesday at 9 p.m.
