Victim of a violent check by Blues forward Ivan Barbashev, Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard was transported to a hospital in St. Louis.
The incident occurred in the first period of Game 3 of the series between the two clubs on Sunday.

Seen with blood on his nose when he looked up after the collision, Girard received treatment from a therapist on the ice before the latter escorted him off the ice.
However, shortly after arriving in the locker room, the back of Roberval was transported on a stretcher to the ambulance which took him to a hospital center.
The former Shawinigan Cataractes will undergo medical evaluations, the Avalanche said via his Twitter account.
