Stamp price goes to 96 cents | Financial

Prices for postal delivery have been going up for years. Last year it was an increase of 4 cents. According to the company, a gradual increase in rates is necessary to keep the service profitable due to declining mail volumes. “Many people see the relevance of mail, which we noticed well in the first months of the corona crisis when many people sent each other a card. However, the mail volume continues to decline across the board ”, says Resi Becker, Mail Netherlands Director at PostNL.

Other rates

A stamp for abroad will soon cost 1.55 euros, 5 cents more than now. PostNL has decided to leave the rates for sending a package in the Netherlands unchanged, with the exception of registered packages. They will be 25 cents more expensive.

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM), which supervises the tariffs of the so-called universal postal service, has already approved PostNL’s proposals. The watchdog monitors whether the postal company can deliver the mail in a profitable way, without companies and consumers paying too much for postage. On the basis of this, the regulator determines annually whether, and if so by how much, the rates may increase.
