The film’s director, James Gunn, revealed the news on Instagram this weekend, writes Variety.
The Suicide Squad is more of a reboot than a sequel to David Ayer’s film Suicide Squad from 2016. Swedish Joel Kinnaman takes on the role of Rick Flag again, and is joined by actors such as Margot Robbie, Idris Elba and John Cena.
James Gunn has previously reported that the film’s last filming day was in February, but he has kept close that Sylvester Stallone is in the film. But now Gunn is out with a tribute to Stallone – with whom he also collaborated in the film Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2.
“Even though Sly is an iconic movie star, most people have no idea what an amazing actor that guy is,” he writes on Instagram.
The premiere of The Suicide Squad is scheduled for August next year.
