STALKER 2 developers talked about the A-Life 2.0 system for simulating the living world

A preview of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released on the YouTube channel Radio Times Gaming, and that special feature was a video interview with Evgeniy Kulik, technical representative of GSC Game World. Who shared new details about the game.

Kulik confirmed that the game was being created on the Unreal Engine 5.1, but the programmers made some changes to the engine themselves and rewrote some tools. The developer also said that GSC has made many changes to make the best game for PC and Xbox consoles, adding that work in this regard is almost complete.

Additionally, Kulik talked a bit about A-Life 2.0‘s live world simulation system and how it will work in the game:

It all depends on the group or type of monster you are facing. Some of them are protecting their land, because our A-Life 2.0 system is based on several pillars. There is an offline mode where some of the events happen in the background. As you progress, you will see the results of both shooting and battles with mutants, etc. Some groups or mutants live in their habitat, and some just walk around the map. So life in the Zone happens both before the player’s eyes and outside his field of vision.

As the STALKER 2 reviewer noted, while playing the demo, he was struck by the effects of popular mods for the original games. In turn, Kulik noted that the developers took inspiration from the most popular and best mods, and some of them were once mod creators themselves.

Regarding subsequent updates and improvements after the release, Evgeniy Kulik said that they are now working on something similar to a roadmap and will share the details very soon.

Let us remind you that STALKER 2 will be released on November 20 on PC, Xbox Series X | S.
