Ståle Solbakken Loaned to Olympiakos from Roma

Nettavisen learns this late on Thursday evening.

Solbakken has struggled with playing time since he was brought to the Italian capital from Bodø/Glimt in January. In total, there have been 15 Serie A matches. This season he has only got 22 minutes on the pitch after Roma’s first two league games.

After all sun marks, he is now loaned to Olympiakos.

Solbakken is scheduled to fly to Athens on Friday morning, Nettavisen is informed. He has to complete the medical test and finalize the final details before a deal is ready. If nothing unforeseen happens, he will be an Olympiakos player within a short time.

The British tabloid Daily Mail reported on Thursday afternoon that Championship club Leeds United wanted the winger’s services, but as Nettavisen understands, this was never relevant.

Italian Sassuolo also wanted to sign Solbakken, as other media have previously reported.

On Wednesday, the 24-year-old was named in Ståle Solbakken’s national team squad for the games against Jordan and Georgia.

Olympiakos finished third in the Greek league last season. The club is currently top of the league after two games played this season.
