Staib takes over three branches of the Mäschle bakery

A successor solution has been determined for three branches of the insolvent Mäschle bakery from Laupheim. In addition to the branches in Kaufland Laupheim and Langenau, the Ulm bakery Staib is also taking over the one on the B311 in Erbach. The purchase agreement was signed on Thursday. This is announced by insolvency administrator Florian Schiller.

“The employees of these three branches will be happy to be taken on – things will continue seamlessly for them,” said managing director Marcus Staib in a statement. There is no interest in further branches, “also because the Mäschle bakery wants to continue operating them”. However, the decision-making is a matter for the company and the insolvency administrators. Staib does not want to get involved in this.

Mäschle wants to continue running several branches

Mäschle from Laupheim has been in self-administration in restructuring proceedings since January 2024 (the “Schwäbische Zeitung” reported). Business operations continued until the end of September. The self-administration was lifted by the Ravensburg district court on September 13th and transferred to regular proceedings. Attorney Florian Schiller, who previously monitored the proceedings in the interests of the creditors as an administrator, was also appointed as insolvency administrator.

In the end, an agreement with Mäschle as part of an insolvency plan solution could not be implemented because the bakery’s earnings situation was recently below plan, according to the statement.

“The Staib bakery has made an offer for three branches. With the signed contract we have achieved an initial partial solution,” explains Florian Schiller. “There is still no solution for further branches of the Mäschle bakery.” The insolvency administrator is still in negotiations with the Mäschle brothers, who want to continue operating several branches. But Mäschle also described the Erbach branch as an essential part of the restructuring concept. Only when the concrete implementation and the necessary financing have been determined can a corresponding purchase contract be signed.
