Stage 9 of the Tour arrives with more mountains for Colombians to shine

The ninth stage of the Tour de France will be held this Sunday with 153 kilometers of route and a lot of mountains to the delight of the fans of our country who want to see the Colombian cyclists being the protagonists and trying to achieve a victory in the race.

The day will start from the Pau region and end in Laruns. The first kilometers will not have any problem for the riders, since its route will be completely flat. After the first 50 km the race will begin to take another breath and the participants will have a challenge that will take them up to 1440 meters above sea level to Col de la Hourcere. It will be the first mountain pass of the first category, with 11.1 km of route with an elevation of 8.8%.

Then there will be a descent that will help the runners to rest and regain strength for a new third category climb, which will end in Col de Soudet at an elevation of 1,540 meters. The climb will be 3.8 km at 8.5 percent unevenness.

At the end of this couple of ascents, the cyclists will have to take a very dangerous descent that will lead to a fairly extensive plane of approximately 30 kilometers. That period of time will help them to rest again and prepare for the last third of the stage, which will have two more mountain prizes.

At km 115 you will find the Col d’lchere, a third category ascent, with a 4.2 km route and a 7% incline. They will finally reach the last top-notch mountain section. The Col de Marie Blanque awaits the best beetles with a 7.7 km journey at 8.6 percent unevenness.

The last sector of the ninth fraction appears after the ascent of 1,035 meters above sea level and will have a 10 km route with a slight upward incline, complicating cyclists who want to conquer the goal in Laruns.

For this day again, Colombian riders appear as favorites to achieve the victory, thanks to their talent for climbing, especially on the hills with more meters above sea level. Egan Bernal, Nairo Quintana, Miguel Ángel López, Esteban Chaves and Rigoberto Urán appear in the foreground, but Sergio Higuita, Daniel Felipe Martínez, Dayer Quintana, Winner Anacona and Harold Tejada should not be ruled out.

The general classification is led by Briton Adam Yates from Mitchelton-Scott. Among the top ten there are four Colombians, the best placed is the defending champion Egan Bernal of Team Ineos, who is fifth, 13 ”seconds behind the race leader. At the same time is Nairo Quintana sixth, Miguel Ángel López seventh and Rigoberto Urán who is eighth.
