This stage begins in the hometown of the King of the Tour de France 2017, Warren Barguil, so at least at the beginning of the day, Team Arkéa Samsic will be the center of attention. During the stage, however, he will not have a chance to show his art, because after two relatively hilly days, this time there are only two mountain bonuses of the fourth category on the route.

The third day is for sprinters. After the start in Lorient, the route runs parallel to the Atlantic Ocean to the town of Carnac, where the riders turn inland. There, the route will be slightly undulating, but the elevation gains will be kept to a minimum.

The “package” will reach the first mountain bonus of the day after 91 kilometers. However, the exit to the Côte de Cadoudal, known as the Alpe d’Huez in Brittany, measures only 1.7 kilometers and an average gradient of 6.3% does not make it a dangerous obstacle.

After another 27 kilometers, the sprinters will also get the word out, who will share it with each other for a speed premium. At this point, they are 30 kilometers apart from the second assessed ascent of the day. The Côte de Pluméliau is “proud” of 2.2 kilometers in length and a slope of only 3.1%.

After overcoming it, the peloton will remain at the finish line for another 35 kilometers. There are several ripples in the final part of the day, but none of them should exclude sprinters from the game, so at the final level in Pontivy we will probably see dramatic fights in the mass range. In front of the finish is only a straight road 1.5 kilometers long, which is ideal for a sprint full of tension.

The peloton is waiting for a mass journey at the finish. However, the finish in the city of Pontivy seems unpredictable. It will be a challenging technical conclusion. Go to the destination from the hill, to the right and then to the left. The winner is the one who likes curves and will not be afraid. Peter Sagan should fight for the victory under favorable circumstances, but it will probably not be the stage laurel this time.
