Staf Coppens and his family have built a nice new life in Sweden, but everything could be better. So Staf, his wife Monique and children Nora and Beau sit around the table on New Year’s Eve to share good intentions with each other. “Family will forever remain the most important thing,” promises papa Coppens.

Sometimes a New Year’s letter says it all. Beau is reading tonight in the New Year’s special of Camping Coppens his letter to papa Staf and immediately summarizes their life in Sweden in a few lines. “Our second New Year in Sweden; how time flies, we have already been through a lot, though; where shall we begin, too many adventures; this can certainly continue for years to come”, the boy starts off. He then recalls the farewell to Belgium, the habituation to the new school, the wonderful summer with family and friends at the campsite and the magical winter. Beau and Nora are already very happy in their new homeland, but Staf and Monique also look back with satisfaction on the past months in which they realized their big dream, opening a campsite.

New Years also includes good intentions and the Coppens literally throw them on the table tonight. The family members hand out assignments for 2022 on the basis of cards. In no time at all, Staf has got hold of two: being less petty and putting family first even more. Monique also knows where she stands in the new year: she should try to be a little less chaotic and she should speak Swedish more often.
The special immediately links all these intentions to a look back at their hectic Swedish adventure. This creates a rollercoaster of memories and emotions that Staf becomes a little too powerful after reading. And while he dries his tears, daughter Nora gently remarks: “Daddy, are you crying again”, to which Beau adds: “It can’t be true…”
