Stadtwerke Lübeck is to build 200 new charging stations by 2026 – electrive.net

As a joint project between the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, Stadtwerke Lübeck and KWL GmbH, 12 publicly accessible and two car sharing charging points were initially built at the two car parks at the Fischerhafen in Travemünde and on Kanalstrasse on the Old Town Island. On the occasion of the inauguration of the new charging stations, the city also presented its plans for the city-wide expansion of the charging infrastructure.

The charging infrastructure concept plans to build and put 100 charging stations (80 normal charging stations and 20 fast charging stations) into operation next year. The goal is to build a further 100 charging stations in 2025 and 2026; 45 potential locations have already been identified and are being examined, according to the city’s press release.

The Hanseatic city of Lübeck plans to transfer the task of supplying charging stations to Stadtwerke Lübeck Innovation GmbH via a service concession, it continues. The subject of this service concession is the construction and operation of these 200 publicly accessible and twelve charging stations for the use of e-taxis and e-rental cars.

The Hanseatic City of Lübeck intends to grant Stadtwerke Lübeck Innovation GmbH the exclusive right to build and operate charging stations on public streets and on land owned by the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. Stadtwerke Lübeck Innovation GmbH would undertake to operate the charging stations at its own expense for at least eight years from the date of commissioning.

Dr. Jens Meier, CEO of the Stadtwerke Lübeck Group, explains: “The project implemented together with KWL and the Hanseatic City of Lübeck is the latest example of the high level of expertise and performance that we have with regard to the development and operation of charging infrastructure within the Stadtwerke Lübeck Group have. While a few years ago there were isolated charging stations that were built with a focus on specific areas, today we are talking about entire charging hubs or parks in public and semi-public spaces. As a group, we can fully implement such projects from planning to operation and also combine them with other mobility offerings to create holistic concepts for urban mobility.”

In the current project, Stadtwerke Lübeck is using hardware from Compleo, which is operated in the backend of Stromnetz Hamburg and also has Giro-E. As reported, Alpitronic charging stations are currently used at fast charging points.
