LAHORE: Thieves have stolen eight security cameras from the stadium in Lahore where the Pakistan Super League matches are held. Along with cameras, generator batteries and fiber cables were also stolen. The loss is estimated to be lakhs of rupees. The police have started an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, video footage of the thieves escaping from the stadium has also emerged.
The stadium is owned by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The cameras were recently installed for extra security as the Pakistan Super League is underway. The PSL match between Lahore Qualanders and Peshawar Zalmi took place at the Lahore Stadium on Sunday.
Other matches of the Pakistan Super League were held in Karachi and Multan. Four more matches in the league stage have to be played in Lahore. The play-offs and finals are to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In 2009, there was a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Pakistan on the way from the hotel to Gaddafi Stadium. Six Sri Lankan players were injured in the incident. Eight people including six security personnel were killed in the attack.
