Stade Toulousain – Toulon: “We can’t relax at home”, warns François Cros before welcoming the RCT at the Stadium

necessary
Before receiving Toulon, Sunday October 27 at the stadium on the 8th day of Top 14 (9:05 pm), the third international series (30 years old; 32 selections), who will join Marcoussis and the Blues on Monday for the autumn tests, discussing the upcoming dates.

How do you view the RCT?

It is a team that has a big package, a nice three-quarter line, very complete, strong and difficult to move. So we expect a big fight on Sunday.

You are coming off a game in Pau where you were firm in the basics. Will it be necessary to add anything at home and is the concept of a home or away game a reality in implementing a strategy?

No, I don’t think so. I think we needed to meet again in the fight in Pau and that’s what we had missed over the previous four seasons where we were lost there. We wanted to reassure ourselves in this section, maybe this is the right time because it is true that this is an area that we did not have much in the Bordeaux and Castres games. It will take a fight on Sunday because Toulon have a team that likes to play high, that likes to play against the opposition and put pressure on them. It’s up to us to make sure these levels of complexity are at home and to get out of our camp as well as possible.

Shouldn’t we wear bright clothes at the Stadium?

(Laughs) I don’t know. However, there are many expectations behind this game and we hope at least that it will be a game where there will be fighting but also playing.

How did the home win against UBB, which came after the success in Montpellier, help you in preparing for this game?

The Bordeaux game shows us that we cannot relax at home and that these losses have a double effect. This puts us in a negative mood and gives the opposing team a lot of confidence. This is a situation we do not want to consider on Sunday. It is up to us to do things right to avoid it.

You are one of the 11 Toulouse residents who will go to Marcoussis on Monday to prepare for the November exams. Is there a bit of anxiety when you play the last game before joining the France team?

It’s not a worry but it’s sure that we know we’re going to leave the club for a few weeks. So obviously, we want to leave with the feeling of a job well done and above all to leave the group in the best conditions for the first two doubles of the season (in Bayonne and against Perpignan, editor’s note). It is important for us to prove all that with a good game and a win at home.

However, it would be human to think about it with the upcoming dates…

Yes, but I think club games have a real impact on our performance later in the selection because we need confidence up there as well. And we also have confidence when we feel that we have done things right with the club and that we can leave with peace of mind and freedom. There is a time for everything and this is still club time.
