(rö). In the four Freiburg clinics and hospitals, 65 patients infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus are currently being treated as inpatients. That is 14 more than in the previous week. However, the number of severe cases has remained constant: As in the previous week, 20 infected people have to be ventilated, according to a press release.
The University Hospital currently cares for 36 infected people, half of whom need a ventilator. The St. Josef Hospital reports eleven infected people in the ward, the Loretto Hospital 12. One patient in each case has to be ventilated in both houses. There are six corona infected patients in the Diakoniekrankenhaus in Landwasser, including no case for ventilation.
The number of newly infected people in the Freiburg area has increased significantly compared to the previous days. The health department reported 122 new cases on Thursday morning – 46 for the city of Freiburg, 76 for the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district. A total of 2,982 people have been infected with the corona virus in Freiburg since the start of the pandemic, and 3,414 in the district. The number of deaths remained unchanged on Thursday. So far, 88 people in Freiburg and 87 in the district have died in connection with Covid-19.
The health department also published its weekly overview on Thursday. According to this, there are currently 403 active corona cases in Freiburg – 33 more than in the previous week. In the district, the number of active cases has increased slightly from 436 to 445. With the seven-day incidence – that is the number of new infections per week and 100,000 inhabitants – the city and district have recently always been well below the Baden-Württemberg average.
