The police were notified of stabbing at the asylum reception center at Skreia just before 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Then there was no control over the perpetrator.
Barely half an hour later, the man was arrested some distance from the reception.
– The police will interrogate the apprehended as soon as possible. It is too early to say anything about the course of events, says police attorney Nina Østvold Helmersen.
The police are conducting technical and tactical investigations after the stabbing.

Looking for the weapon
The man who was stabbed has been taken to hospital. It is currently unclear how seriously injured the person is.
– The police have started the investigation and are gathering information to get an overview of what has happened, says police attorney Helmersen.
She can not yet say anything about the relationship between the victim and the apprehended and what is the basis for the incident. Both men must be between 20 and 40 years old.
There is no indication that there will be more perpetrators.
Police are now looking for the knife. They have not yet seized items that can be linked to the incident.

The crisis team announced
The crisis team in Østre Toten municipality has been notified to take care of other residents at the reception, the police say.
The leader of the crisis team, Gry-Hege Strandbakke, tells NRK that they have not been asked to assist so far.
– I have been in contact with the reception manager who says that they handle this themselves and do not need assistance, says Strandbakke.
