St-Pierre Chanel closes its doors

The Saint-Pierre Chanel school complex in Thionville has decided to close its doors as of this Friday evening due to the high proportion of people identified as a case-contact with covid-19.

To date, in fact, 130 secondary school pupils and 51 teachers are likely to have come into contact with a pupil who fell ill recently. Not wishing to take any risk due in particular to the very strong spread of virus variants in recent days in northern Moselle , the private establishment has opted for a radical preventive measure. The courses will be provided remotely from Monday and for the week. Chanel has a total of 2,150 students, from 6e in the final year, and more than 130 teachers.

This decision comes just a few hours after the trip of the Minister of Health Olivier Véran to Metz. The latter left by indicating that the closure of schools was not (yet?) On the agenda. In Thionville, Mayor Pierre Cuny argues the reverse for this option.
