Hamburg (dpa) – HSV coach Tim Walter purposely went to his own fans, his players hesitantly followed him after the 0: 3 (0: 0) in the thrilling 108th Hamburg City derby at FC St. Pauli.

Across the pitch, the Kiezkickers hugged, exhausted and happy after a memorable match. From the rows of the Millerntor Stadium, sold out with 29,205 spectators, the Juventus appendix resounded: “We are number one”.

Ironically, city rivals FC St. Pauli had stopped HSV in the 2nd Bundesliga and put an end to their crisis by winning the highest derby in 62 years in one fell swoop. “I’m completely done,” coach Timo Schultz told Sky. His co-captain Leart Paqarada thought the same way: “It’s a good feeling. I couldn’t have imagined it better.”

Red for HSV captain Schonlau

The road to Kiez cheerfulness was favored by the red card for HSV captain Sebastian Schonlau (28). His team was outnumbered by Etienne Amenyido for more than 60 minutes after he was sent off due to an emergency brake. “Of course you are disappointed when you lose a derby in the frame,” said HSV coach Walter. “But we never gave up.”

With his first defeat in seven games, his team now has to worry about the weekend’s league advantage. It was also the first overseas failure after eight wins during the season. For St. Pauli, the win was their first in seven games – and a great relief. Eric Smith (61st), Marcel Hartel (74th) and David Otto (89th) created a brown and white party atmosphere.

Before the high-risk game, a police operation caused a stir. Police had arrested several FC St. Pauli supporters. A video circulating on Twitter shows one such arrest, in which a police officer uses coercion in the form of physical violence. “It is necessary to check whether proportionality has been respected,” police said on Twitter. The video shows several people pinned to the ground by police officers. One officer beat a man lying on the ground while another blocked his legs. FC St. Pauli have asked for clarification.

Fürth misses the victory against Rostock

Meanwhile, SpVgg Greuther Fürth took another low blow against a rustic Hansa Rostock just before the final whistle. The Franks were not put off by the guests’ rough play at 2: 2 (1: 0). A Ryan Malone penalty (90 + 3) that was converted just before the end robbed Franconia’s dismay of their second win of the season. After a third consecutive draw at the start of matchday 12, coach Marc Schneider’s team moved up to 15th place in the standings.

Fürth captain Branimir Hrgota (20th minute) set the lead in front of 10-516 spectators. Lukas Fröde’s equalizer (57 ‘) equalized with a header from Ragnar Ache (60’) after a splendid cross from Simon Asta. After the Giallorossi against John Verhoek (62nd), Afimico Pululu (88th) lost the great chance of 3-1 just before the end. In return, Malone shocked the hosts.
