St. Louis Blues | Jim Montgomery finds work

Five days ago, the Boston Bruins fired head coach Jim Montgomery. Sunday morning, the St. Louis Blues confirmed his hiring.

Published yesterday at 9:48 a.m.

The Blues first fired their head coach Drew Bannister. The latter had worked in the Blues organization since 2018. He replaced Craig Berube in St. Louis when he was fired in December 2023. With Bannister behind the bench, the Blues stagnated in sixth place in the Central Division, with a record of 9-12-1 in 22 games.

For his part, Montgomery had been the head coach of the Bruins since 2022. Despite a record season of 135 points in 2022-2023, the modest beginnings of the Bostonians this season convinced the staff to cut ties with the coach Quebecois.

After the Dallas Stars and the Bruins, Montgomery will lead a third team in the National Hockey League. This is his second stint at Missouri, having assisted Berube with the Blues between 2020 and 2022.

Montgomery’s contract would be for five years.

In the NHL, the 55-year-old has a record of 180 wins, 84 losses and 33 overtime losses.
