SSSTC Announces ER3 Series SSD for Data Centers with 5-Year Immersion Cooling Warranty

Solid State Storage Technology Corporation (SSSTC), a subsidiary of Kioxia, announced ER3 series SSD for data centers. These are said to be the world’s first products in their class to come with a 5-year immersion cooling warranty.

Due to the complete immersion of components in a heat-conducting liquid, heat is removed more efficiently. This ensures stable and reliable operation under high and prolonged loads. All solution components are carefully selected and tested.

The devices are offered in two versions – SFF and M.2 2280. In both cases, 3D TLC NAND microchips are used, and the SATA-3 interface is used for connection. DWPD value ≥ 1. AES-256 encryption and Power Loss Data Protection are supported. The MTBF (mean time between failures) indicator is stated at around 3 million hours. The operating temperature range extends from 0 to +70 °C.

SFF drives are available in capacities from 240 GB to 1.92 TB. The sequential read speed for all versions reaches 520 MB/s, and the sequential write speed is 280 MB/s for the younger version and 520 MB/s for all others. The IOPS value for random read operations is 90 thousand, for write operations – from 10 to 45 thousand, depending on the capacity.

M.2 format products are available in capacities of 240 and 480 GB. Their sequential read/write performance is 520/280 MB/s and 520/520 MB/s, respectively. The IOPS value for random reading is the same – up to 90 thousand, for writing – 10 thousand and 15 thousand, respectively.
