The SSR requests partial unemployment for part of its staff due to the coronavirus crisis. Around 600 people in the group are affected.
Like several other media companies before it, the SSR mentions the cancellation of major sporting and cultural events, as well as the fall in advertising revenues to justify the use of short-time working.
The fall in revenues is not yet known with precision, but “the estimates are in double digits and in millions”, wrote Tuesday the SSR in a press release.
The people concerned – around 600 – work for the Operations departments of the three national channels (RTS, SRF and RSI) as well as for units of Swiss TXT.
The request to reduce the working hours is made in agreement with the people concerned and in consultation with the Swiss Union of Mass Media (SSM), explains the SSR. She specifies that the personnel concerned “will continue to receive 100% of their normal salary.”
