QUEBEC — The employee unions of SSQ insurance, which has become Beneva since the merger with the La Capitale group, have reached an agreement in principle with the employer for their 1,100 members.
The agreement would have been reached last Thursday between the insurer and three unions affiliated with the Confederation of National Trade Unions (CSN), namely that of office employees of SSQ Life, that of employees of SSQ General Insurance Company and that of personnel sale of Société d’Assurance-Vie inc.
This new version of their collective agreement will shortly be submitted for the workers’ approval.
According to the press release published Friday by the CSN, the group of office workers of SSQ Vie would have approximately 570 members while the employees of SSQ General Insurance Company would have approximately 520 members and that the sales personnel of SSQ Société d’Assurance-Vie would have 35 members.
Negotiations had begun in November 2021 and due to the lack of progress in the talks, the union members had filed a request for conciliation with the Administrative Labor Tribunal last February.
Then, on March 28, workers armed with strike warrants demonstrated in front of the company’s headquarters in Quebec City.
