Morelia, Mich.- The Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM) reiterates the call to be vaccinated against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in the 364 health centers, since the campaign will remain in force until December 18, with the goal of apply 15 thousand 596 doses.
This vaccine should be applied to fifth-year primary school girls and sixth-year laggards, that is, those who did not receive the vaccine at the time, as well as 11-year-olds who are not in school. The campaign is also aimed at at-risk populations, such as cisgender and transgender women and men between 11 and 49 years old who live with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV); and girls, women and adolescents from nine to 19 years old who are in a care protocol for sexual rape.
Adolescents aged 12 to 16 who are lagging behind, who do not have any doses and have never been immunized, will also receive the vaccine, since the biological is safe and provides protection against HPV, which causes cervical cancer.

HPV infection occurs asymptomatically or transiently and resolves without treatment. In others, it can cause the appearance of condylomas or warts and cause a modification of the cells of the cervix, and generate precancerous lesions that can progress to cervical cancer between 14 and 20 years after HPV infection; hence the importance of vaccination.
