SSI State Supplemental Payments: Extra Payments for Beneficiaries in 33 States

Beneficiaries who receive payments from the Social Security Administration (SSA) that correspond to the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, are generally sent on the first day of each month, a payment schedule very different from the one that is handled with those who receive retirement income. Added to this, 33 states of the United States will be paying extra, since they have given the green light to their own complementary pest plan. These payments can be expected for the month of June.

What are SSI State Supplemental Payments?

When we talk about supplemental payments from the SSI program, we are referring to the state income that is determined in each entity and that is sent as fixed amounts each month. They are offered to low-income people and also to care providers, so they can supplement their federal payment.

The amounts will vary depending on the state in which the beneficiary lives. For example, in the case of New York, an additional $87 per month is offered for single retirees, while for couples who benefit jointly, an extra $104 is sent. In Alabama, for example, you can get amounts that range from $120 dollars.

There are two ways to receive supplemental payments, one of them, as we talked about before, is from the state where you reside, but in some other cases, it is the same Social Security Administration which handles some categories of co-payments. These occur in the following entities:

California

Delaware

Hawai

Iowa

Michigan

Montana

Nevada

New Jersey

Pensilvania

Rhode Island

Vermont

Washington DC
