SSG Landers (CEO Min Kyung-sam, hereinafter referred to as SSG) will finish the spring camp in Florida, USA on the 25th (local time) and arrive at Incheon International Airport on the 26th (Sun) at 5:50 pm (Korean time).
From February 1 (Wednesday), SSG held its first camp at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex located in Vero Beach, Florida, with the theme of developing players’ skills and intensively nurturing promising players through technical and physical training.
Coach Won-hyung Kim, who finished the camp, said, “As we resumed the overseas camp after three years, the players were able to build up their bodies in an optimal environment with a warm climate and large-scale indoor and outdoor training facilities. The players also took the initiative and digested their training well. This camp focused on developing the skills of promising players. He believes that with the coaching staff’s leadership and the senior players’ leading training attitude, the young players gained a lot of learning and experience and achieved the desired results.”
Next, coach Kim explained, “Above all, the players finished well without major injuries during the camp, and through the second camp, they will step up their sense of actual combat.”
Pitcher Park Min-ho and catcher Cho Hyeong-woo were selected as camp MVPs.
Park Min-ho said, “I was selected as the camp MVP at the same place in 2019. He was just as good at the time, but this time he feels a greater sense of responsibility to throw well forward. I received the MVP, but I think all the players who sweated and suffered together at the camp are MVPs.”
Cho Hyeong-woo said, “I thought it was a good start to the year just by putting my name on the first team camp list. And he thought he had achieved his goal just by being able to finish without getting hurt during the camp. I am happy to have been selected as the MVP of the camp, and I am grateful to the coaches and coaches who selected him. I will try to become a player who continues to challenge and develop without being complacent or satisfied with the present.”
Meanwhile, the SSG team is scheduled to conduct the 2nd spring camp in Okinawa, Japan from the 28th (Tue) to the 8th (Wed) of March.
