SSC Tautara hypercar set a world speed record. Video :: Autonews

A video appeared on the Internet with the arrival of the American hypercar SSC Tautara, which set a world speed record among production cars, taking the title of the world’s fastest car from the Koenigsegg Agera RS. Roller posted on YouTube.

A record attempt was made in the state of Nevada on the blocked 11-kilometer stretch of State Route 160 between the cities of Pahrump and Las Vegas. The car driven by British racer Oliver Webb after the first start was able to accelerate to 484 km / h, and in the opposite direction – to 532.93 km per hour.

In the final protocol, in accordance with the requirements of the Guinness Book of Records, the average speed of the car was recorded, which was 508.73 km per hour. According to the rules, the average speed achieved after two starts from opposite sides is taken into account, since the conditions during races in different directions could differ significantly from each other. The maximum speed can be influenced, for example, by the slope of the road, tailwinds and other criteria.

The SSC Tautara hypercar was developed by Shelby Super Cars, founded by Jerod Shelby in 1999. The coupe weighing only 1250 kg is equipped with a 5.9-liter V8 engine with two turbines, which, when running on bioethanol, develops 1750 hp, and on regular gasoline with an octane rating of 92 – 1350 hp. The first “hundred” hypercar picks up in 2.5 seconds, and the declared maximum speed is 502 km per hour.

The previous speed record among production cars was set by the Swedish Koenigsegg Agera RS with a 1360-horsepower engine. In the fall of 2017, on the same stretch of the freeway in Nevada, the hypercar was able to show an average speed of 444.6 km per hour.
