SS Rajamouli’s Exclusive Interview: “Directors Doing Away with Dance Numbers Will Be a Big Loss for Audience”

SS Rajamouli is a director who has created wonder on the silver screen and created wonder in the Indian film industry. He says that when all the current directors do away with dance numbers from their films, it will be a big loss for the audience. In an exclusive interview with Prashant Neil, Prabhas and Prithviraj, Rajamouli also said that he was disappointed that there was not even a dance number in Salaar.

Rajamouli said that he is a big fan of Shruti Haasan’s dance moves and watches the star’s songs over and over on his phone and TV. “One complaint I have with Salaar is that the two songs I watch on my phone or TV are Shruti’s party song from Race Ghuram and Charuseela from Srimanthudu. I love their dance. “I was disappointed when I found out that there was no duvet in the salar,” joked Rajamouli.

“We were initially thinking of doing a mass number or a duet or something. But we got stuck in the drama of the film and couldn’t use Shruti for glamour. She is part of the story and plays a powerful role. Also, I think the world has changed. “People are watching a lot of international content and if done right, pure drama will also be accepted,” said Prashant Neel, director of the film.

“More than the world, I think we have changed. The world has always accepted films without songs and other elements. We filmmakers were not confident enough. Now you have confidence,” added Rajamouli.

Actors like Prabhas, Prithviraj, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Sinha and Tinnu Anand are playing the lead roles in Salaar. The film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Homebale Films. Cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda, Music by Ravi Basrur, Editing by Ujwal Kulkarni etc. The film will release worldwide on December 22.
