Sriracha in danger. The sauce maker reports a lack of chili peppers

Bad weather causes a lack of quality chili peppers, which threatens the production of the popular Sriracha sauce, said its producer Huy Fong Foods. The company admitted the first signs of problems to customers two months ago, and now the lack of sauce is already felt by customers.

“Currently, the quality of chili peppers is endangered due to weather conditions, so we face a shortage of them.” the company wrote Huy Fong Foods in a letter to customers. “Unfortunately, it is beyond our control and without this essential ingredient we are not able to produce any of our products,” says the manufacturer.

This week, the company confirmed that the lack of peppers will be reflected in the production of hot Sriracha sauce, garlic sauce and Sambal Oelek flavors. Customers who have already ordered the sauce must now expect a delay.

“It simply came to our notice then. In any case, during the shortage we will not accept any new orders with delivery until September, as we do not have enough stock to be able to deliver the order, “the company says.

Huy Fong Foods has been very successful in recent years, with revenues of the company ranging from billions of crowns. The author of the sauce is David Tran, who fled South Vietnam in 1978 and found asylum in the United States, specifically in Los Angeles. Tran crossed the Pacific on the ship Huy Fong (“Gathering Prosperity”), after which he later named his company for the production of hot sauces. Over time, the sauce became so successful that several imitations of it were created on the market.
