Sri Mulyani’s Staff Called Bambang Tri Ngutang, so he was banned

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaThe Special Staff of the Minister of Finance Yustinus Prastowo opened up about Bambang Trihatmojo’s lawsuit against the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN). The lawsuit arose after the extension of the prevention of travel abroad or was banned in the context of managing state receivables.

According to Yustinus, the ban was due to the absence of payment to the state related to debt.

“In general, prevention is carried out because Mr. BT (Bambang Trihatmodjo) has a debt to the state. So the prevention will be lifted if there is a payment of the debt,” said Yustinus, confirmed by CNBC Indonesia, Thursday (17/9/2020).

He admitted that the debt was related to the 1997 Sea Games.

However, Yustinus did admit that the State Secretariat had encouraged the collection of the debt. The State Secretariat sends the spillover to the Ministry of Finance.

“This is the overflow of the State Secretariat to the Ministry of Finance to be collected,” he explained.

Previously, the Director General of State Assets at the Ministry of Finance, Isa Rachmatawarta, said that the ban on the son of former President Soeharto was because Bambang was found not to have completed his obligations.

“The person concerned did not complete his obligations,” said Isa to CNBC Indonesia, Thursday (17/9/2020).

To note, the foreign ban investigated by the son of the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soeharto, was related to the implementation of SEA GAMES XIX in 1997. At that time, Bambang was the Chair of the Consortium for the implementation of the XIX SEA Games.

Unfortunately, Isa did not convey how many debt obligations Bambang had to fulfill to the state.
