Sri Mulyani Raises Her Voice on the Probolinggo Corruption Case

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani speak up about the alleged case corruption within the district government Probolinggo.

“Corruption is the main enemy and common enemy in achieving the goal of just prosperity,” said Ani, her nickname, through the official Instagram account @smindawati, Saturday (4/9).

He revealed that the increase in financial transfers from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) to Probolinggo Regency was inversely proportional to the welfare of the residents.

Ani explained that from 2012 to 2021, APBN transfers to Probolinggo reached Rp. 15.2 trillion. Especially this year, the figure has almost doubled when compared to 2012.

“From Rp959 billion in 2012 to Rp1.857 trillion in 2021,” said Ani.

In addition, he said the total amount of village funds received by Probolinggo Regency from 2015 to 2021 reached Rp2.15 trillion.

The funds were addressed to 325 villages. Each village, said Sri, received an average of IDR 291 million in 2015. The budget for this village fund increased by 3.5 times in the next six years.

However, the increase in the amount of the budget from the central government is not in line with the improvement in the welfare of the residents of Probolinggo Regency.

In contrast to the increased budget, cases of malnutrition or stunting in early childhood under 2 years in Probolinggo Regency actually increased.

According to Ani, in 2015, the number of children under 2 years stunting as much as 21.99 percent. This figure increased to 34.04 percent in 2019.

“(A total of) 3.5 out of 10 children are malnourished!” he wrote.

In addition, according to Ani, the number of open unemployment in Probolinggo Regency also jumped from 2.89 percent in 2019 to 18.61 percent in 2021.

Meanwhile, the poor population in Probolinggo only decreased by 2.37 percent from 20.98 percent in 2015 to 18.61 percent in 2020.

Then, the Human Development Index (HDI) last year also only increased 1.95 percent from 64.12 percent in 2015 to 66.07 percent.
