Sri Mulyani Key Infrastructure Budget, Here’s The Economist’s Answer

Previously, the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that President Prabowo Subianto had issued an order to stop the payment of the budget for the development of new infrastructure for a short time.

Dody said Prabowo had ordered Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati to temporarily suspend budget allocations for new infrastructure, outside of existing contracts. They were held until a one-way map was issued regarding the use of state funds for RI 1 priority programs.

“All the infrastructure funds will be held by the Minister of Finance for a period of time according to the instructions of the President. Until then, these ministries will sit together, “said Dody at the Office of the Ministry of National Development Planning / Bappenas, Jakarta, Monday (18/18). 11/2024).

This budget cut also applies to the construction of new dams. Even though it is related to Prabowo’s food sustainability and self-sufficiency program, the Ministry of Public Works will increase the existing infrastructure.

Water supply

According to his calculations, the water supply from the existing 259 dams that will be built until 2026 is enough to monitor the food self-sufficiency program.

“I have said several times that there are big physical developments, such as building dams, building things like that, while we could stop for a while. What we have, we are increasing, we will make it effective to support to give 110 percent food security, “energy and water,” he explained.

“So with a limited budget today, that’s what we have to revive. Do your best to be able to make the intentions of President Prabowo a success, especially in the areas of food security, energy and water,” said Dody.

Allocation of state funds for infrastructure development such as new roads will be suspended until Sri Mulyani issues a decision. “Until when, until it is needed, until then the budget will be available. Until it is given by the Minister of Finance,” concluded Dody.
