Jakarta –
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati revealed that the self- or paid vaccination plan will be carried out next year. This is applied to people who can afford to accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination program.
“Efforts to accelerate vaccination are carried out through the implementation of a vaccination program funded by the APBN, as well as for next year there will be an independent vaccination scheme for groups of people who can afford it,” he said at the DPR Plenary Meeting regarding the Government’s Response to the General View of Factions on the 2022 APBN Bill and its Financial Note, Tuesday ( 24/8/2021).
In order to maintain the availability of vaccines and the affordability of vaccine prices, Sri Mulyani said the government would continue to seek cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally. Starting next year, Indonesia is also expected to be able to produce its own COVID-19 vaccine.
The government will continue to improve the quality of the health budget aimed at encouraging and supporting health system reform in the form of primary service transformation through strengthening Puskesmas, strengthening promotive and preventive functions (including disease control and immunization).
In the 2022 RAPBN, the government designs the health budget to reach Rp. 255.3 trillion or 9.4% of state spending, higher than the mandate of the health law which is at least 5% of the APBN. From this budget, the allocation for handling COVID-19 in the health sector is estimated to reach Rp 115.9 trillion.
Utilization of the budget will be directed at completing vaccination programs and anticipating further vaccinations, as well as various health treatments such as strengthening 3T (testing, tracing, and treatment), claiming costs for treating COVID-19 patients, providing medicines, and incentives for health workers.
“Until June 2021, the vaccination target of 1 million doses per day has been achieved, and it is hoped that this will continue to increase. The government has requested the involvement of all local government personnel, TNI/Polri, and midwives coordinated by the BKKBN to accelerate the vaccination target,” Sri Mulyani said. .
As is known, the self-vaccination program or paid vaccine was intended to be implemented on July 12, 2021 by PT Kimia Farma Tbk. Unfortunately, the plan drew a lot of protests until it was decided to postpone, until it was finally canceled by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on July 16, 2021.
