Sri Mulyani Asks Pertamina to Control Pertalite-Solar Subsidized Fuel so that the State Budget is not “broken”

JAKARTAKOMPAS.com – Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani ask PT Pertamina (Persero) to control the type of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) Pertalite and Solar so as not to further burden the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (State Budget).

In a press conference on the State Budget, Thursday (11/8/2022), Sri Mulyani said that currently the government has disbursed energy subsidies including fuel and electricity of Rp 502 trillion.

This is due to the fact that the subsidized fuel quota is dwindling, thus requiring additional quotas. In a press conference on our State Budget, Thursday (11/8/2022), Sri Mulyani said, currently the government has disbursed fuel and electricity subsidies of Rp 502 trillion.

This budget value could swell if Pertamina did not control the distribution of subsidized fuel.

“This is why I ask Pertamina to control it so that our APBN does not experience additional pressure. Because the budget for subsidies for oil, in this case, LPG, and electricity has reached Rp 502 trillion,” said Sri Mulyani, in Jakarta Thursday (11/8/2022).

Pertamina noted that until July 2022, the type of subsidized fuel solar 9.9 million kiloliters have been distributed, while the quota is 14.9 million kiloliters.

Meanwhile, Pertalite subsidized fuel, until July 2022, has distributed 16.8 million kiloliters, out of a quota of 23 million kiloliters.

Sri Mulyani said, for subsidy spending, the government was faced with a very large deviation in oil prices from the assumption of US$63 per barrel to US$106 per barrel, or US$104 per barrel on average.

This was also influenced by the exchange rate, from Rp. 14,350 per US dollar, corrected to Rp. 14,875 per US dollar.

“So, I convey the budget for subsidies, especially for oil, Pertalite, Solar, that we will face pressure from changes in exchange rates and deviations in oil prices, as well as increased volumes,” he added.
