COLOMBO, KOMPAS.com – Contest winner beauty queen Sri Lanka caught being stripped of his crown because he was suspected divorced.

However, Caroline Jurie, champion of the 2019 edition and current Mrs. World, suddenly intervened in the award process.
With a jarring tone, Jurie said that there are rules to prevent participants who are known to have married and divorced.
“Because of that, I took steps to seize crown that and gave it to second place, “he explained.
Jurie then approached De Silva, took off his crown, and gave it to the second position standing beside him.
The organizers immediately apologized to the winner of Miss Sri Lanka World 2011, and restored her title.
De Silva, who admitted that he was only separated, posted a caption on Facebook to challenge Jurie’s claim.
“Living apart and divorced is something different,” said the 31-year-old beauty queen.
De Silva admitted that he arrived at the hospital for treatment because he injured his head.
He stated that he would take legal action against Jurie, because of the treatment and humiliation he had received.
Chandimal Jayasinghe, director for Mrs Sri Lanka World, reported BBC via Daily Mail Tuesday (6/4/2021) regretted Jurie’s behavior.
“It is very embarrassing for Caroline Jurie’s behavior on stage. Mrs. World has already started an investigation into the incident,” said Jayasinghe.
