In the course of the “SRF 2024” transformation project, the teams in today’s design and marketing department will be reorganized, writes SRF in its newsletter on Monday. This would result in new management positions that will be advertised internally and externally in due course.
“Those were 16 intensive and creative years with a lot of passion for the public service,” said Alex Hefter in the SRF newsletter. “I was lucky enough to be able to develop the creative image of SRF and SRG SSR with many talented people. Always very good image values for the appearance and the SRF brand and a considerable number of awards have spurred our work. I would like to thank my team for the committed cooperation and wish you all the best for the future. “
SRF director Nathalie Wappler: «As a creative mind with high quality standards, Alex Hefter has strongly influenced SRF for over 16 years. With his teams, he has given our company, the radio and TV programs and the multimedia formats an unmistakable appearance in a wide variety of ways. I would like to thank Alex for all of his commitment. I wish him all the best for his future! “
Hefter has been with SRF since 2004
Alex Hefter has been working as Creative Director for Swiss radio and television since September 2004. He started at what was then SF DRS as Head of the Design Department. In 2011, the design became part of the new SRF Programs department. In 2013, the marketing tasks were also re-bundled under the direction of Alex Hefter.
“Alex Hefter and his teams shaped the design of SRF and SRG at different levels,” continues SRF. At the holding level, he designed a new and uniform branding system for SRG and its corporate units RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and Swissinfo. Furthermore, in the course of the merger of Schweizer Radio DRS and Schweizer Fernsehen in 2011, he developed the SRF umbrella brand with the associated brand strategy. In this context, the six radio channels in particular have been repositioned and given a new visual and acoustic identity.
One of the early digital successes was the development of the SRF Meteo App in 2013. On the image level, Alex Hefter was responsible for the campaigns “My Switzerland, my television” and “Switzerland in the heart”. For the SRG streaming platform Play Suisse, which was launched on November 7, 2020, he was in charge of brand and branding development across Switzerland.
Under the direction of Alex Hefter, the design and marketing department has received almost 200 national and international awards, for example for SRF branding, broadcast openers, set designs, idents from SRF 1 and SRF two, as well as various image campaigns.
Before joining SRF, Alex Hefter worked for ZDF, from 1994 as a conceptual designer, from 1996 as Head of Corporate Design. He also worked as a freelance TV designer for various media companies in Germany and taught media design at the Ravensburg University of Applied Sciences and the Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
