Mexico City, Seven Mexican citizens managed to leave Lebanon this weekend with the support of national diplomatic personnel.
Through a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported that yesterday, six compatriots took a flight from Lebanon to Istanbul, Turkey, for which they also had the support of the Canadian government.
Meanwhile, on Friday another Mexican person left Lebanese territory for Cyprus with the support of the Australian government.
For this reason, the Mexican government expressed its gratitude to the governments of Canada and Australia for incorporating the seven Mexicans who requested to leave Lebanon on humanitarian flights.
For days, the Mexican embassy in Lebanon has identified Mexicans who want to leave that area due to the conflict due to Israeli attacks and bombings.
The Foreign Ministry detailed that the group of six compatriots who left Lebanon yesterday did so via a flight to Istanbul, where they were received by Ambassador José Luis Martínez y Hernández, the person in charge of the Consular Section in Ankara, Araceli Yali Noriega Curtis, and the support of the consul in charge in Istanbul, Minister José Eduardo Buenrostro Vielmas.
Meanwhile, on Friday, another Mexican person traveled to Cyprus, where she was received by the Mexican ambassador to Greece, Alejandro García Moreno, who went to the Larnaca airport to ensure her arrival.
The SRE indicated that some of these people will travel to Mexico as their final destination, while others decided to remain in Europe.
He added that the Mexican embassy in Lebanon maintains permanent communication with people who have decided to remain in the country and continues to identify all possible exit routes.
