SRE asks Mexicans to leave Lebanon due to increase in attacks between Israel and Hezbollah

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) issued an urgent call for Mexican citizens in Lebanon leave the country due to clashes between Israel and the group Hezbollah.

The agency recommended people take advantage of available ferries and commercial flights while possible.

To support the evacuation, Mexico has activated a sea route through Mersin, Türkiye, on the Mediterranean coast. However, this option is only available to Mexican nationals and their immediate family members, who must meet certain requirements, such as having a Turkish visa and registering online through the official channels of the Foreign Ministry.

The SRE has reiterated that people must be responsible for the expenses of their stay and maintenance in the country of transit. In addition, the agency provided two telephone numbers for assistance, both in Lebanon and Mexico, and urged citizens to register in the Registration System for Mexican Persons Abroad.

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumreported that the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramon de la Fuenteis in communication with the ambassadors to monitor the situation. The Mexican government maintains its stance of “seeking peace and non-intervention” amid rising tensions following recent attacks in the region.
