On the 2nd, the prosecution requested a one-year prison sentence for actor Oh Young-soo (79), who was indicted on charges of forcibly molesting a woman.
At the decision hearing held on this day by Judge Jeong Yeon-ju, Detective 6, Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court, the prosecution made this request and requested the court to issue an employment restriction order and disclose personal information.
The prosecution said, “In 2017, at a drinking party with the victim and others, the defendant distortedly expressed his longing for youth, saying, ‘You guys look like women.’ He sent an apology text message to the victim’s request, but avoided responsibility by saying, ‘I feel like a daughter,’ and the victim “It made me feel frustrated,” he claimed.
At the same time, he requested, “Please impose severe punishment on the defendant who is not reflecting.”
In his final statement, Oh Young-soo said, “It is very difficult and painful to stand in court like this at this age,” and “It is devastating to see my life end in this situation and I feel like my entire life is falling apart. I hope for a wise decision.”
Oh Young-soo’s defense team claims that there is very little evidence that fits the case other than the victim’s statement and the evidence derived from it. She also asked for a not guilty verdict, saying, “Considering the location, conditions, and time of the molestation, I have doubts as to whether the defendant could have committed the crime.”
While Oh Young-soo stayed in a certain area for about two months for a theater performance in the summer of 2017, he was accused of forcibly molesting the victim on two occasions, including hugging the victim, A, on a promenade in August of that year, and kissing her on the cheek in front of A’s residence in September. However, Oh Young-soo has denied the charges.
The sentencing hearing will be held on the 15th of next month.
