The Minister of Housing, Emmanuelle Wargon traveled to Toulouse and in the Lot this Thursday, February 25, to discuss the future environmental regulations for new housing. On this occasion, the Minister Delegate in charge of Housing spoke about Roland’s situation, the 88-year-old man whose house was squatted for nearly six months in Toulouse.
“I was touched like everyone else by the situation of this retiree”, she confided on France Bleu Occitanie before ensuring that the law better protected owners now. “They can simply go to the police and the eviction can take place more quickly even during the truce so there are new rights for the owners”, explained the minister.

She came back on the ” particular case “ of Roland, who had obtained a court decision “Allowing the squatters to get out”. “But justice had decided to maintain the winter truce. However, he had not appealed and therefore we respected this court decision, she detailed. The law has since been changed. […] We are now in a position to act much faster. “
It was ultimately a collective of residents who had succeeded in get the squatters out of the house. But Emmanuelle Wargon insists: according to her, “The state is able to protect owners”.
