The Japanese company’s revenue increased compared to 2022 and amounted to $601.2 million (14.4% growth). Operating profit fell immediately by 78% to $21.7 million. Net profit was also 65% lower than a year earlier – the company received $44.2 million. At the same time, the growth in sales of video games has grown (+11.3%), and players are buying up various merch much more willingly than a year earlier (+28.7%).
The release of the sixteenth “Final Game”, as well as the pixel remasters of Final Fantasy 1-6, contributed to the growth of the HD games segment by 140% at once, but the mobile and MMO divisions sank by 18.3% and 22%, respectively. However, next year the situation will clearly change: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will finally be released on Xbox consoles, and in the summer of 2024, the next add-on, Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, will go on sale.
In total, the company shipped 7.54 million of its games in the first quarter, compared to 4.28 million copies in the same quarter of the previous year. Over 70% of all sales come from digital copies.
