Earlier today published Bloomberg Japan a report in which they claimed that several potential buyers sniffed at snatching up the Japanese gaming company Square Enix. The source for Bloomberg is said to have been bank employees.
In a statement on Friday morning, Square Enix claims that it was as new to them as it was to us. They should not have received any offers, nor do they have any plans to be acquired.
– We are not considering selling the company or any parts of the operation, nor have we received an offer from third parties, it says in the statement from the company, signed by top manager Yosuke Matsuda.
As a result of the news, Square Enix’s share rose by 13 percent early today.
Square Enix is currently working on several major projects, as well as refurbished versions of games from the archive. The biggest on the horizon is probably Final Fantasy XVI which was announced last year. In addition, it gets the very popular online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV an expansion pack called Endwalker in autumn. From the classic library came just SaGa Frontier Remastered – a refurbished version of the PlayStation game from the nineties.
