Earlier today claimed Bloomberg Japan that the gaming giant Square Enix was courted by several eager companies. And sure enough, after the Xbox’s huge Bethesda deal, it feels like anything can happen.
However, no one will buy Square Enix. At least not for the moment. Commenting on rumors and speculation is usually not something the company does, but this time they felt demonstrably forced to deny it. They do not intend to sell or have received any bids from speculators, they say in a brief press release which is hard to misunderstand.
We do not consider selling off the company or any part of its businesses, nor have we received any offer from any third party to acquire the company or any part of its businesses.

The rumor gained momentum on the stock market and at lunchtime in Japan the stock had rushed by almost 14 percent.
