Kingdom Hearts 4 is officially in the works. Square Enix confirms that in the form of a new trailer for the game. There is not yet a release date and a list of platforms on which the game should appear.
The trailer was shown in celebration of Kingdom Hearts’ 20th anniversary; the first game in the franchise was released on March 28, 2002. Square Enix celebrated the anniversary in Tokyo with live appearances from developers of the games. In the same trailer, a Kingdom Hearts mobile game called Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is also first announced. It has a closed beta test for iOS and Android in 2022. In addition, a new chapter of another mobile game is shown in the trailer.
In an announcement of part four, among others shared by Kotaku, Square talks about this new story being called the Lost Master Arc. It takes place in the world Quadratum, consisting of a realistic looking city. Right from the start, main character Sora gets to face a huge enemy. A new character, Strelitzia, is also introduced and Donald and Goofy are reviewed.
While platforms have not yet been announced, the previous Kingdom Hearts ‘with a number’ came out on PS4 and Xbox One, followed a few years later by Windows and the Switch.
