MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The risk of rain and storms due to the squall Óscar will leave the Canary Islands this Thursday and will extend to Galicia, Asturias, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
Thus, the warning (yellow) will be activated in the four Galician provinces, in Asturias, in Toledo and Cáceres, where about 15 liters per square meter will accumulate in one hour. The provinces of Ávila, Salamanca and Cáceres will also have notice for accumulation of 40 liters per square meter in 12 hours. In addition, they will be at risk from storms in Galicia and Asturias.
In general, this Thursday the precipitations will be locally strong or persistent and will be accompanied by storms in the northwest of the peninsula and around the Central system and Betic systems, without being ruled out in the middle of the Ebro at the end. The maximum temperatures will rise significantly in areas of the southeast of the peninsula.
However, the influence of ‘Óscar’ will affect the Peninsula where abundant cloudiness will predominate with rainfall and storms that will spread throughout the day from west to northeast, without reaching, or occasionally, the Levante peninsular and the Balearic Islands, where cloudy intervals will predominate.
The rainfall will be more intense and widespread during the afternoon, when there is a probability that it will become locally strong or persistent in the northwest of the peninsula, around the Central system and Betic systems, and will not be discarded in the middle of the Ebro at the end of the day.
As for the Canary Islands, the AEMET expects that the day will be marked by cloudy intervals with probable rainfall on the mountainous islands, weaker, more scattered and occasional than in previous days, without ruling it out on the rest of the islands.
Temperatures will drop in the southwest quadrant of the peninsula and the Canary Islands, and in general they will rise in the rest of the country and especially in the southeast, while the minimums will not register major changes.
Finally, it points out that the wind will blow from the eastern component in the Balearic Islands, in the eastern third of the peninsula and the Ebro valley. In the rest of the Peninsula the southern component will predominate, generally with a light wind, and somewhat more intense in the western third, with Strong intervals on the west coast of Galicia. In the Canary Islands loose wind from the west and northwest.
