The well-known actor, speaking at the “Thalpos – Mental Health” event, revealed that his cancer was diagnosed completely coincidentally during a routine thyroid checkup.
«My cancer was diagnosed completely incidentally. I had gone for a thyroid check and because the doctor was a friend, he did an ultrasound and a little further and suddenly, there was a huge pause».
Continuing his speech, the actor shared the words of his doctor. “He told me “I see something strange here, go and look at it, it’s probably lipoma“. I understood that it is not lipoma. The radiologist was one of those who talk a lot. He told me that the kidney is like an orange and said “if it has infiltrated the capsule, in two months you will be gone, otherwise we take out the kidney and we are done“, he described.
Regarding the return to his daily life, he said:
«It was two months before we found out. Finally, we found out, it hadn’t infiltrated, we took the kidney out and all was well. I needed help for about two months, I got it from my friends and my girlfriend. But from the first moment, I couldn’t wait to get back to work. I used to say “cancer does its job and I do mine”. As soon as I started rehearsing in the theater, I forgot everything».
Finally, he added:I’m one of the lucky ones I didn’t have to rejoin or take less work. Ultimately, psychology plays a role. I didn’t let my mind go to thoughts like “if it will come again”. That’s how I’ve been going so far, 11 years have passed and I’m getting better and better. This is also a disease».
