Sputnik Radio Host’s Apartment Targeted in Arson Attack in St. Petersburg – RIA Novosti Reports

In St. Petersburg, unknown persons set fire to the door to the apartment of Sputnik radio host Trofim Tatarenkov. RIA Novosti reports this.

The incident occurred yesterday, January 7.

“They lined my apartment door with tires, brought more boards, and threw a Molotov cocktail. The apartment did not burn down because of the armored door. But the calculation, as I understand it, was precisely on sacrifices. The arsonists hoped that there was someone in the apartment. We were not at home, but the light was on, it was visible from the street. They also pre-blocked the front door’s magnetic lock with stickers to make it easier to unlock. Thank God, everyone is alive,” Tatarenkov told the agency.

The journalist added that his neighbor noticed the fire. Rescuers who arrived at the scene put out the fire. According to the Sputnik radio host, in this way the attackers tried to intimidate journalists expressing their pro-Russian position.

“This story has a Ukrainian trace. This is a planned, systematic work. They think to intimidate us so that we stop working, but they are wrong. We have worked, we are working and we will work,” he emphasized.

After the incident, Tatarenkov contacted the police and thanked the employees for their efficiency.
