Spring, Monza 2-3 Inter. Lavelli, Berenbruch and Quieto win it against the Brianzoli

It was a big show of strength from Inter Primavera, who ran out 3-2 winners away at Monza to continue their progress seen in recent weeks. Zanchetta’s side showed off all their attacking firepower, scoring three times in the first half through Lavelli, Berenbruch and Quieto. Inter now have 18 points and have strengthened their position in the upper echelons of the table.

Zanchetta’s boys dominated the first half, after having come flying out of the traps. In the first minute, Quieto let fly from the edge of the area, sending his shot just wide. That was a prelude of things to come as the Nerazzurri got the opener just one minute later. Motta provided a brilliant assist for Lavelli, who headed home from a few yards out to give the Nerazzurri the lead. Monza tried to react but Inter kept up the attacking threat: Topolovic’s effort from the edge of the area tested Ciardi. The hosts continued to struggle under the weight of the Inter press and Berretta’s attempt in the 12th minute went well off target. Inter deservedly doubled their lead in the 23rd minute. Lavelli’s effort was denied by Ciardi but Berenbruch latched onto the rebound and scored a tap-in to make it 2-0. The third goal was coming. In the 38th minute, De Pieri cut in from the right and hit it with his left, again the Brianzoli’s keeper made the save. He could do nothing five minutes later, however, as Quieto slotted it home from short range following Topalovic’s attempt.

The hosts looked bright to start the second half and halved the deficit through a Zanaboni header. The Nerazzurri struggled for the opening minutes of the half but steadied themselves and began to dominate possession again, even coming close to a fourth through Lavelli (62’). Ten minutes later, Monza pulled another one back, this time through a well-placed effort from Colombo. The Nerazzurri looked susceptible to a third as the hosts came close to making it 3-3: first, Colombo’s shit drew a save from Calligaris before Domanico sent his penalty kick crashing into the post. That was the last bit of action in the game and Inter came home with all three points.
