Recently, the movie ‘Spring in Seoul’, which has been a box office success in theaters, has entered the countdown to becoming the ’10 million movie’ as the cumulative number of viewers exceeds 9 million.
According to distributor PlusM Entertainment, the total number of viewers for ‘Spring in Seoul’ exceeded 9 million around 11 am today.
The distributor explained that it achieved 9 million viewers at a faster rate than the 10 million movies such as ‘Avatar: The Road of Water’ (30th) and ‘Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King’ (31st).
Theater circles believe that ‘Spring in Seoul’ has the potential to reach 10 million viewers as early as the Christmas holiday.
A distribution company official said, “We expect the final score of ‘Spring of Seoul’ to be over 11 million viewers,” and predicted that it would also surpass the record of ‘Crime City 3’, the only film this year to have 10 million viewers.
However, the fact that ‘Noryang: Sea of Death’, the last part of director Kim Han-min’s ‘Yi Sun-shin trilogy’, will be released on the 20th may act as a variable when ‘Spring in Seoul’ becomes a 10 million movie.
The movie Noryang has a reservation rate of 48.1% and 193,000 viewers, surpassing ‘Spring in Seoul’ and ranking first in advance reservation rate.
