A vaccine in the form of a spray against the new coronavirus gives good results in the first tests on animals, the electronic edition Juricalart reported.
The study was conducted by scientists from the universities of the US states of Iowa and Georgia, adds BTA.
The single dose provides complete protection against COVID-19 in mice and prevents transmission of the infection between animals during clinical trials.
“Currently used vaccines against COVID-19 are very successful. However, a large part of the world’s population has not yet been vaccinated and there is a critical need for drugs that are easy to use but also effective in stopping the infection and transmitting it,” he said. Paul McCray, who co-authored the study.
“If this new vaccine proves effective in humans, it could help stop the spread of the infection and control the pandemic,” he added.
Unlike traditional vaccines that are injected, this vaccine is given by injection in the nose.
The preparation used in the study requires only one dose and can be stored at normal temperatures in a refrigerator for at least three months.
The survey data is published in the journal Science Advanceis.
